Hide and Seek by Anthony Browne

Look closer – what can you see hidden in the trees?

Hide and Seek is another gem by Anthony Browne.  Written in his usual captivating and gentle manner, Hide and Seek is a striking, yet haunting tale of  sibling friendship and overcoming fear. As in many of Anthony Browne’s picture books, there are unexpected surprises on every page.

When I shared this book with my Year 3 class, they absolutely loved it.

Abdihafid said,” My favourite part of Hide and Seek was when they found Goldie. I’ve lost something special and still haven’t found it. I think I should look a bit harder for it.”

Whereas Sarah explained,” I like the happy ending. I like happy endings because they make me feel good. I didn’t like it when they were lost.”

All in all my class agreed that Hide and Seek deserves a 5 star rating and should definitely be read by all the other children in school.

Written and illustrated by Anthony Browne, published by Penguin Random House.
